Sr Security Engineer

Our insurance client is looking for a hands-on IT Security Engineer to own, secure, and support critical security platforms and technologies across the organization. This role is ideal for an experienced security professional who enjoys getting into the details-managing users and access, configuring and enforcing policies, implementing security platforms, and troubleshooting issues when things don’t work as expected. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience in IT security or a related technical field and a demonstrated track record of taking ownership of a platform or security technology from implementation through ongoing administration, optimization, and support., * Own and administer security platforms and technologies, including implementation, configuration, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.

• Manage users, groups, roles, permissions, access controls, and security policies.
• Configure and maintain security controls to protect systems, applications, and organizational data.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across security platforms and integrations.
• Investigate security-related alerts, configuration issues, access problems, and platform failures.
• Partner with IT, infrastructure, engineering, and other technical teams to implement and maintain secure solutions.
• Develop and maintain security policies, configurations, and operational procedures within assigned platforms.
• Monitor platform health, identify gaps, and proactively improve security controls and configurations.
• Participate in security technology implementations, migrations, upgrades, and integrations.
• Document configurations, processes, troubleshooting procedures, and platform ownership responsibilities.
• Evaluate new security capabilities and recommend improvements based on organizational needs and risk.
• Support incident response and security investigations as needed.

• 6+ years of experience in IT security, cybersecurity, systems administration, infrastructure, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Demonstrated experience owning, administering, and/or implementing a security or IT platform.
• Hands-on experience managing users, roles, permissions, access controls, and security policies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems independently.
• Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise security technologies and integrations.
• Ability to understand how security platforms interact with systems, applications, identity providers, networks, and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of security principles, access management, authentication, authorization, and least-privilege concepts.
• Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with engineering, IT, and security teams.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience with Python scripting and automation.
