Senior Backend Engineer (Java / Spring)

Our client, a major organization undergoing an important digital transformation, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and evolve a next-generation digital platform. You will contribute to the design and development of scalable backend services, APIs, and integration capabilities that support multiple digital channels and enterprise systems. Working closely with architects and cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in building secure, reliable, and maintainable platform services. Your Responsibilities Backend Development & Integration Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integration components. Build scalable and maintainable services supporting multiple digital channels. Develop reusable backend capabilities for business domains and partner integrations. Contribute to the evolution of the platform integration layer. Implement integration patterns aligned with the overall architecture. API & Platform Engineering Ensure consistency, reliability, and quality across APIs and services. Contribute to API lifecycle management and versioning strategies. Implement secure, scalable, and resilient services. Apply software engineering best practices and coding standards. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions. Quality & Continuous Improvement Implement automated testing and quality controls. Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Contribute to performance, reliability, and maintainability improvements. Participate in proof-of-concepts, MVPs, and technical validation activities.

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, Software Engineer, API Engineer, or similar role. Strong experience with Java development. Solid expertise with the Spring Framework. Experience building and maintaining REST APIs. Knowledge of API lifecycle management. Experience with Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architectures. Understanding of API-first and service-oriented architectures. Experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT. Knowledge of cloud and distributed architectures. Experience with automated testing and quality assurance practices. Familiarity with monitoring and observability practices. Experience with: IBM environments IBM MQ / MQ Series Web Services Object-Oriented Programming JIRA and development support tools Software testing methodologies Methodology Experience working in Agile environments.
