Job description

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing Data & AI Practice, delivering modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, PySpark and cloud-native engineering practices. You’ll be designing, building and owning production-grade data pipelines that power analytics, decision-making and AI initiatives across a diverse portfolio of clients.

You’ll work alongside Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Scientists on large-scale transformation programmes, including major public sector and regulated industry engagements where quality, governance and engineering discipline genuinely matter.

What You’ll Be Doing You’ll design, build and support end-to-end data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and related Azure technologies.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Building scalable batch and incremental data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric
  • Developing and optimising PySpark notebooks for large-scale data transformation
  • Creating robust Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions within OneLake
  • Designing curated data models that support analytics and reporting
  • Writing performant SQL for complex business and analytical requirements
  • Working with Delta Lake and Parquet-based datasets
  • Implementing data quality, validation and governance controls
  • Building CI/CD pipelines and supporting deployment across environments
  • Troubleshooting and resolving production issues
  • Working directly with client stakeholders to understand requirements and shape solutions

Requirements

Eligibility - SC Eligible (lived and worked continuously in the UK for the last five years) Build data platforms that matter., We’re particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate:

  • Commercial experience delivering production data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions and query optimisation
  • Hands-on PySpark experience for large-scale data processing and transformation
  • Experience working with Lakehouse architectures and cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Parquet and modern data engineering practices
  • Python development experience
  • Git-based development and source control
  • CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps or GitHub
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
  • A proactive, ownership-based approach to delivery
