Job description

Kforce’s client in Memphis, TN is seeking an Operations Engineer (Cloud) to support AWS disaster recovery, cloud resiliency, automation, and FinOps initiatives., This role is ideal for someone with strong experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation through scripting, who enjoys improving operational efficiency, standardizing recovery processes, and optimizing cloud environments., * Build and maintain Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules, standards, and reusable cloud patterns

  • Develop automation and scripting solutions to streamline provisioning and operational workflows
  • Configure and support AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS) and related resiliency services
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery runbooks, recovery procedures, and testing plans
  • Execute DR tests, failovers, and failback activities while driving continuous improvement efforts
  • Enhance monitoring and alerting for replication health, backups, and recovery workflows
  • Partner with security and risk teams to ensure compliance and governance requirements are met
  • Support FinOps initiatives including cloud cost allocation, tagging, reporting, and optimization
  • Analyze cloud usage and spending trends using tools such as Apptio Cloudability and AWS cost management solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering
  • Strong experience building and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred) and automation through scripting using Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash
  • Hands-on experience implementing and testing AWS disaster recovery strategies
  • Deep understanding of disaster recovery concepts, including RTOs, RPOs, runbook development, and recovery validation
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience with AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS)
  • Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization
  • Experience with Apptio Cloudability
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, etc.)

  • AWS (EC2, EBS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch)
  • Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS)
  • Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CI/CD tools
  • Apptio Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, and Cost and Usage Reports
  • Docker, ECS, EKS, and Kubernetes (preferred)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
