Job description
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe NetView Engineer to support enterprise IBM z/OS environments through advanced automation, monitoring, and operational resiliency solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering IBM NetView for z/OS, developing automation solutions using REXX and CLIST, implementing message-driven automation, and supporting critical infrastructure monitoring and recovery processes.
- This role requires employees to live in or around the Phoenix, AZ or Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX area. You will be responsible to be onsite 3 days a week. We will consider candidates who are willing to relocate to one of the areas listed. Responsibilities: NetView Administration & Support: Administer and maintain IBM NetView for z/OS environments. Configure and support NetView automation infrastructure. Monitor NetView performance, availability, and operational effectiveness. Manage NetView definitions, policies, and operational controls. Automation Development: Design and develop automation solutions utilizing: REXX CLIST NetView Command Lists (CMDLISTs) Develop automated recovery procedures and operational workflows. Create reusable automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency. Event & Message Automation: Implement and maintain: Event-driven automation Message automation solutions Automated notification processes Automated escalation procedures Configure and maintain Automation Tables (AUTOTBL). Design message-processing rules to identify, classify, and respond to system events. Monitoring & Incident Management: Implement proactive monitoring and alerting solutions. Support enterprise event correlation and alert management. Develop automation to reduce manual operator intervention. Participate in production support and operational incident resolution. Perform root cause analysis for infrastructure and automation failures. Infrastructure Integration: Integrate NetView automation with: z/OS Communications Server VTAM TCP/IP OMEGAMON Enterprise monitoring platforms Support automation across Sysplex environments. Collaborate with operations, network, security, and systems programming teams., IBM NetView for z/OS Administration NetView Automation Tables (AUTOTBL) NetView Command Lists (CMDLISTs) NetView Event Management NetView Message Automation NetView Operations Management Automation Development: Advanced REXX Programming CLIST Development Automation Scripting Event Processing Logic Automated Recovery Procedures Networking & Monitoring: z/OS Communications Server VTAM TCP/IP OMEGAMON Integration Enterprise Monitoring Solutions Preferred Experience: Experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS). ·Experience managing large-scale financial services or banking environments. Knowledge of RACF and z/OS security controls. Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow. Experience supporting 24x7 enterprise production environments. Knowledge of CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, and related z/OS subsystems.
Requirements
7+ years of experience with IBM z/OS operating system 5+ years of IBM NetView administration and automation experience. Strong hands-on development experience with REXX, CLIST, and NetView automation. Proven experience designing event-driven operational automation solutions. Demonstrated success supporting highly available enterprise mainframe environments. Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents and implement long-term resiliency improvements.
