Job description

A Kforce client has an exciting opportunity in San Antonio, TX for an IT Portfolio Manager to help drive strategic execution across the IT project portfolio. This is a contract-to-hire position, and while much of the work is remote, candidate needs to be located in the San Antonio area to go onsite as needed., As an IT Portfolio Manager, you will serve as both a strategic partner and an execution driver, working closely with senior leaders-including CEO direct reports-to shape, manage, and deliver high-impact initiatives across the organization., * IT Portfolio Manager will partner with business line leaders to intake, define, and roadmap strategic initiatives

  • Support executive-level portfolio reviews through compelling visual and narrative storytelling
  • Monitor initiative progress, identify risks and dependencies, and drive mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual planning, including benefits realization tracking
  • As an IT Portfolio Manager, you will assist in capacity and resource planning with IT and business stakeholders
  • Develop playbooks, frameworks, and process improvements to enhance delivery effectiveness
  • Lead or support internal initiatives such as capability builds, maturity assessments, and governance redesigns

Requirements

  • Executive Storytelling & PowerPoint Design - Skilled in translating complex ideas into clear, compelling presentations
  • Problem Solving in Ambiguity - Resourceful and proactive in undefined environments
  • Strategic Portfolio Management Acumen - Ability to manage and align initiatives with business goals
  • A strategic thinker with strong execution skills
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building structure from scratch
  • Polished and executive-facing, yet hands-on and collaborative
  • Hungry to grow, humble in approach, and driven by outcomes

Preferred Background:

  • Experience managing or supporting cross-functional IT portfolios
  • Strong track record in strategic planning and benefits realization
  • Demonstrated ability to build or improve processes, playbooks, or governance frameworks
  • Background in consulting, transformation, or strategy roles is a plus
  • Industry experience in banking or financial services is helpful but not required

Nice-to-Have Certifications:

  • PMP or PMI-ACP
  • SAFe or Agile certifications
  • Prosci or other change management certifications
  • CB-PMO or PfMP

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
