Job description

We’re growing the team with a geospatial data engineer who brings strong engineering fundamentals to hands-on geospatial data work at scale. You’ll implement, tailor and extend existing methodologies for customer projects and pilots across our sectors, and help grow our agentic AI capabilities for both internal and client-facing use. You’ll contribute to client-facing deliverables and discussions alongside a project manager who owns the client relationship, and you’ll work closely with our Technology team when it comes to extending our agentic capabilities. What you’ll do

  • Apply and customize geospatial methodologies across our sectors at scale, working with a wide range of geospatial, climate, satellite imagery, and other datasets.
  • Contribute to project deliverables - analytical outputs, documentation, and reports - and engage in customer-facing project discussions alongside a project manager.
  • Work with our software platform as part of project delivery, and help extend our agentic AI capabilities for internal and client-facing use, alongside our senior ML engineer., We’re looking forward to receiving your application! In case your experience doesn’t fit all of the criteria, get in touch anyway.

Requirements

  • Background: Degree and/or professional experience in geospatial data engineering, data science, computer science, AI, or a related technical or scientific field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years combining software/data engineering with geospatial applications, ideally including experience in climate, energy, and/or infrastructure.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Python, experience in software engineering, including latest developments in agentic development, and geospatial data engineering.
  • AI-forward mindset: Genuine enthusiasm for using and building with AI tools.
  • Applied project experience: Some experience delivering technical work within client projects, adapting to shifting priorities and timelines.
  • Customer-facing skills: Comfortable communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and contributing to client discussions and deliverables.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable in a dynamic environment, moving between projects across sectors as well as broader technical development as priorities shift.
  • Bonus: GCP, geospatial tools, climate / natural hazard modelling experience, extended knowledge in one of VIDA’s core sectors; broader software/data engineering skills.
