Job description

The IT Support Associate provides responsive, customer-focused technology support for faculty, staff, and students across the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. This position coordinates day-to-day help desk operations and works collaboratively with college and NU Information Technology Services partners to ensure reliable technology services and support. Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing end-user, classroom, and help desk support, including troubleshooting and resolving routine and intermediate technology issues.
  • Coordinating help desk operations by triaging support requests, escalating complex issues as appropriate, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Supervising 2-3 student workers, including hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, and ensuring consistent help desk coverage and service quality.
  • Supporting a variety of college and NU Information Technology Services systems and services through cross-training and collaboration with technology partners.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve technology support by analyzing service trends, researching solutions, documenting procedures, and implementing approved improvements.

We Seek: A service-oriented technology professional who enjoys solving problems and helping others. The successful candidate is an effective communicator who is organized, dependable, and able to balance hands-on technical support with coordinating help desk operations and supervising student employees. Note: Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, plus two (2) years of progressively responsible experience providing IT, help desk, classroom technology, or related technical support. Equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripheral devices, and routine technology problems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, education technology, business, a field of the arts, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising, training, scheduling, or providing day-to-day direction to students or other staff.
  • Experience using help desk/ticketing, asset management, endpoint support, classroom technology, or university technology systems.
  • Experience supporting both Mac and Windows environments.
  • Experience assisting with technology purchasing, inventory, deployment, documentation, or service improvement.
  • Relevant technology support certification, such as Apple, Microsoft, CompTIA, or ITIL Foundation.
