Job description

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to support and lead continuous improvement initiatives within an established enterprise ServiceNow environment. This individual will help execute the ServiceNow roadmap, enhance existing platform capabilities, and work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality implementations. The role combines hands-on ServiceNow development with technical leadership, supporting modules including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, HAM, CSM, and HRSD.

Responsibilities Technical Leadership

  • Lead ServiceNow development reviews and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Lead technical project meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors.
  • Develop implementation plans, SOPs, system architecture, and deployment documentation.
  • Support ServiceNow architecture, design, implementation, and ongoing platform improvements.
  • Identify technical risks, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
  • Develop use cases and testing procedures and ensure functionality is validated before production deployment.
  • Prepare project status reports, technical documentation, and presentations.
  • Maintain project and development documentation repositories.
  • Support ServiceNow AI capabilities, including Now Assist, third-party LLM APIs, and Automated Test Framework (ATF).

ServiceNow Development

  • Design, develop, configure, and support ServiceNow applications and environments.
  • Develop and configure: o Business Rules o Client Scripts o UI Policies o UI Actions o ACLs o Advanced ServiceNow scripting

  • Build automation workflows using Flow Designer.
  • Develop and support integrations between ServiceNow and external systems.
  • Perform unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and production support.
  • Ensure development follows ServiceNow coding standards, security requirements, and technical best practices.
  • Support custom scoped application development.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Assist with release management and deployment procedures.
  • Provide accurate development estimates and support Agile planning activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of ServiceNow development experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 6 years of software design, development, and support experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading software development projects or technical teams.
  • Strong hands-on ServiceNow development experience across multiple modules.
  • Significant experience with: o Hardware Asset Management (HAM) o Configuration Management Database (CMDB) o Customer Service Management (CSM) o HR Service Delivery (HRSD)

  • Working knowledge of: o ITSM o ITOM o ITAM

  • Strong experience with JavaScript and Glide APIs.
  • Experience with HTML5, AngularJS, jQuery, and CSS.
  • Experience with Flow Designer.
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with external applications and systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom scoped applications.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Experience with Okta, SSO, or related authentication technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance prior to start.
  • Active ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
