Job description

A technical support role responsible for responding to customer and sales channel inquiries for product advice and selection, product application and set-up, and the development of standard and modified quote proposals. This role routinely serves as the liaison to Engineering in support of smaller customer projects, product investigations, and customer inquiries for technical information. The role also prepares drawings and documentation, fabricates tools, equipment and prototypes, and conducts experiments and tests., * Manage assigned activities while seeking feedback and guidance from more experienced resources; technical work is subject to review and approval.

  • Apply knowledge of business concepts, practices, procedures, and tools to recommend and implement solutions within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of products, applications, and processes, including identifying potential areas for improvement.
  • Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers using strong listening, communication, credibility, approachability, and openness.
  • Solve routine problems and participate in or manage customer projects, internal Watlow projects, or teams.
  • Use the Watlow Business System (WBS) to achieve results and demonstrate behaviors consistent with organizational culture.
  • Modify product and process designs based on defined design and process standards and trade-off curves.
  • Create drawings and documentation in support of product and process design and development, including CAD drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Assemble and create bills of material (BOMs) and routings for standard or modified-standard products, and process rework or prototype orders.
  • Read and interpret customer drawings and convert customer needs into instructions for production.
  • Provide technical advice to business unit sales agents, customers, and distributors, including training as necessary.
  • Prepare and present quotes primarily for standard and modified products and services, working within pricing guidelines.
  • Advise customers, distributors, and sales agents on product selection, application, set-up, and programming for control products.
  • Provide input on sales volume, trends, forecasts, market and competitor intelligence, customer feedback, and product gaps.
  • Serve as a post-sale technical resource, maintain relationships with established customers, support generated quotes, and assist sales agents in developing new customers.
  • Assist with product growth strategies, returned material issues, product investigations, and quality investigations.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of specified products in the assigned area of responsibility and demonstrate strong customer-facing, conflict-resolution, presentation, and cross-functional teaming skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or two-year degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (5-8 years).
  • Experience in highly regulated markets such as Aerospace/Military/Defense or Medical markets is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to fluently speak and write in English is required for this position in Mexico.

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an office/technical environment and includes frequent walking; occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 30 pounds; constant sitting, computer use, close-up work, information exchange, and sustained concentration. The role includes frequent public contact, decision making, and detailed analysis; occasional exposure to noise; occasional intrastate and interstate travel; and occasional work beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
