Job description

Play a key role in supporting the development of payload software, external interfaces, and operating system deployments. Focus on deploying novel systems on Size/Weight/Power constrained computing hardware for space sensor payloads. Participate in all aspects of software design and development, starting from requirements generation and following through implementation, testing, deployment, and support. Leverage core understanding of Linux fundamentals, fault-tolerant design, device interface implementation, and real-time operating systems. Be part of a team of driven pioneers tackling challenging projects, delivering on the impossible, and making an impact on the future of space., * Support the development of payload software and external interfaces.

  • Deploy systems on Size/Weight/Power constrained hardware for space sensor payloads.
  • Participate in software design and development, from requirements to support.
  • Leverage Linux fundamentals, fault-tolerant design, and real-time operating systems.
  • Collaborate with a team dedicated to tackling challenging projects in the space industry.
  • Perform tasks requiring close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Regularly operate computer keyboard and controls and communicate verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience with RTOS, system deployment, testing, and interfaces.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional full-time software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of production-style coding experience using C/C++.
  • At least 2 years of Python scripting experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional Linux experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with complex multi-threaded applications.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen or have dual citizenship in allied countries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with operating system deployment and hardware drivers and interfaces.
  • Exposure to hybrid C and Python for testing is desired.
  • Experience with interfaces, timing, and communication protocols.
  • Exposure or experience with FPGA interfaces.
  • Experience with image processing algorithms.
  • Simulation infrastructure experience with Matlab or Python.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance (located in Tucson, AZ or Chantilly, VA).

Fully remote position with potential travel of up to two weeks per quarter. The work environment is collaborative, with a focus on learning from each other to achieve mission goals. The team consists of approximately 25 full-time engineers. The culture is defined by a shared passion for space exploration and working on projects that have a real impact, including those that launch into space.

This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $67.31 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
