Job description

Duke Energy is seeking a highly motivated Senior Product Owner to lead the implementation, delivery, and ongoing evolution of CASPAR (Cost Allocation Schedule Performance Analytics & Reporting), a strategic platform supporting Duke Energy’s Interconnection ecosystem. CASPAR serves as the system of record for interconnection cost allocation, financial tracking, schedule performance analytics, and regulatory reporting. This role will drive successful delivery of a multi-year modernization initiative focused on improving business processes, data governance, automation, reporting, and enterprise integrations across multiple systems. The successful candidate will combine strong product ownership capabilities with expertise in business process analysis, enterprise data management, financial systems, and stakeholder collaboration. This individual will operate at the intersection of business, technology, finance, compliance, and data, ensuring the platform delivers measurable business value while supporting transparency, auditability, and regulatory compliance., Product Ownership & Strategy Execution

  • Own execution and delivery of the approved CASPAR product roadmap.
  • Partner with business sponsors and stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into actionable product requirements.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business needs and delivery objectives.
  • Define user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and product documentation.
  • Drive product adoption and successful migration from legacy processes and systems to CASPAR.

Business Analysis & Process Design

  • Analyze and document complex business processes, workflows, operational procedures, and business rules.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather requirements and align stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.

Data Integration & Validation

  • Define requirements for enterprise system integrations and data flows.
  • Review and validate source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and integration outcomes.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, reconciliation, and governance standards are maintained.
  • Partner with technical teams to support successful implementation of integrations between CASPAR and enterprise systems including Datamart, EcoSys, FIHUB, and related platforms.

Financial Systems & Reporting

  • Support development and validation of cost allocation methodologies, financial calculations, and reporting requirements.
  • Review financial data outputs to ensure compliance, auditability, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with finance, regulatory, and operational teams to ensure reporting solutions meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Validate reporting, analytics, and performance measurement capabilities.

Agile Product Delivery

  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and product demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, testers, analysts, and external vendors to deliver product enhancements.
  • Validate completed functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage delivery risks, dependencies, assumptions, and implementation issues.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Build strong relationships across Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Compliance, Technology, and Data organizations.
  • Communicate product status, priorities, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Management, or enterprise system implementation experience.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and functional requirements.
  • Strong experience with backlog management, user stories, and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software implementations and custom application development.
  • Experience with enterprise data integrations, data validation, reconciliation, and governance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups and drive cross-functional alignment., * Experience with financial systems, financial reporting, budgeting, or cost allocation methodologies.
  • Utility industry experience, particularly within interconnection, transmission, generation, or grid operations.
  • Experience with enterprise systems of record and complex multi-system integrations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit controls, and data governance practices.
  • Experience validating data transformations, reporting solutions, and reconciliation processes.
  • Familiarity with FERC-regulated environments and utility business processes.
  • Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or similar Agile certification.
  • Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation or modernization initiatives.

Benefits & conditions

  • $85,000-100,000 per year
