Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer - Ray Tracing / Neural Rendering to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team driving innovation in real-time rendering, ray tracing, and next-generation graphics technologies. You will help develop advanced rendering algorithms and software that enable industry-leading visual quality and performance on AMD hardware platforms.

THE PERSON: The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a passion for computer graphics and rendering technology, and enjoys tackling challenging technical problems. A successful candidate will have strong expertise in software engineering, real-time rendering, GPU programming, and graphics algorithms, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be comfortable working across the full lifecycle of rendering technology development, from algorithm design and prototyping through implementation, optimization, validation, and deployment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and drive execution of advanced rendering algorithms and software for real-time ray tracing and global illumination technologies
  • Research, implement, validate, and optimize rendering techniques such as ReSTIR, path tracing, denoising, sampling, and spatiotemporal resampling methods
  • Contribute to a high-functioning graphics feature team focused on delivering industry-leading visual quality and performance
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including GPU architecture, driver, game engineering, and graphics research teams to develop and deploy new rendering technologies
  • Help contribute to the design and implementation of future rendering architectures, frameworks, and scalable graphics systems
  • Work very closely with developers, researchers, and project managers to drive graphics innovation from concept through production-quality implementation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C and C++
  • Strong understanding of real-time rendering, ray tracing, physically based rendering, Monte Carlo techniques, and global illumination algorithms
  • Experience developing GPU-accelerated algorithms using modern graphics APIs, shader languages, and parallel programming techniques
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, and performance optimization
  • Excellent design and code development skills, familiarity with Linux and modern software development tools and workflows
  • Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing graphics workloads for performance and image quality
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex rendering challenges
  • Experience with real-time ray tracing research, ReSTIR-based algorithms, path tracing, sampling techniques, or publication-quality graphics research is a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, or related technical discipline preferred.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
