Job description

Our Software Engineer III serves as the Lead Software Engineer supporting the modernization of mission-critical U.S. Navy software systems. This position leads Agile software development efforts focused on cloud-native applications, microservices architecture, RESTful API development, containerization, DevSecOps implementation, and continuous delivery while ensuring software solutions meet cybersecurity, performance, and mission requirements. The Software Engineer III provides technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring architectural integrity, requirements traceability, and delivery of secure, scalable enterprise applications. Salary Range: $150,000 to $175,000 annually, depending on experience. This position is contingent on contract award., * Lead Agile software development teams in the design, development, testing, and deployment of cloud-native enterprise applications supporting U.S. Navy mission systems.

  • Design and develop scalable software solutions utilizing modern software engineering principles, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and containerized environments.
  • Provide technical leadership for DevSecOps implementation, continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, and secure software development practices.
  • Research, design, develop, and maintain computer software applications and specialized utility programs supporting mission requirements.
  • Analyze user requirements and translate business needs into secure, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.
  • Enhance and maintain existing software capabilities through modernization, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, cybersecurity personnel, systems engineers, logistics teams, and Government stakeholders to develop technical solutions and system specifications.
  • Maintain application databases and support data integration activities across enterprise systems.
  • Ensure software solutions comply with cybersecurity requirements, secure coding standards, and applicable DoD policies.
  • Maintain software documentation, architecture diagrams, technical designs, and configuration management artifacts.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Mentor junior software engineers while promoting software engineering best practices and technical excellence.
  • Support software integration, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production deployments throughout the software lifecycle.

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position located primarily on-site in Chesapeake, VA, with occasional travel to San Diego, CA; New Orleans, LA; and Charleston, SC. Position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience applying modern software development methodologies including Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps in professional or academic environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing enterprise software applications using modern programming concepts and best practices.
  • Agile Developer Certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ (IAT Level I) certification preferred.
  • SAFe Practitioner certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to Federal Contractor requirements.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance required.
