Job description

As a Security Engineer you will be on the front lines, supporting in translating the magic of Google Cloud into mission-critical solutions. Your primary focus will be on delivering tailored technical solutions that accelerate digital transformation across regulated market segments. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise in cloud security and infrastructure, combined with an understanding of public sector security compliance frameworks and mission needs. You will act as the go-to technical expert for difficult security problems, driving security outcomes and independently owning projects from design to launch to support the customer’s mission., Disambiguate, break down, and drive solutions to security problems, navigating cross-functional challenges with minimal oversight. Manage and deliver engineering projects, ensuring productive engagement with stakeholders and adherence to project scope, timelines, and metrics. Design and deliver novel, scalable security solutions and custom assets, e.g., production code, sample code, best practices, etc that reduce risks and satisfy or exceed complex customer objectives. Define and drive long-term security strategies, multi-year roadmaps, and visions for complex, ambiguous technical problems. Evaluate complex security risks, contribute to policy definitions, and lead the full solution lifecycle from development strategy and testing to launch.

Requirements

United States (US) citizen that will work from the US. 5 years of experience with large-scale system architecture, distributed paradigms, and global infrastructure deployment e.g., operating system administration, software-defined network configuration, identity and access management, Kubernetes. 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols. 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Ability to travel up to 25% domestically. Preferred - Possess an active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance (if required by the customer, potential Counter Intelligence (CI) or Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) may also be required).

Characteristics

Experience in security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling. Proven ability to secure products on GCP, AWS, or Azure and using tools like Terraform or Ansible. Experience delivering comprehensive security solutions through design, coding, configuration, and deployment. Well-rounded and cleared engineer demonstrating a deep understanding of open source and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security technologies, tools, infrastructure, and processes, with the foresight to future-proof them. Ability to influence stakeholders, risk decisions, and security designs while balancing competing priorities to align on the best outcomes. Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve technical obstacles, and identify which critical security problems to tackle next. Reliable teammate and strong and clear communicator who listens actively and finds ways to increase alignment to achieve the best collective outcome. Demonstrated experience with automated deployment models, such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and GitOps. Knowledge of key security areas, e.g., threat modeling, incident response) and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, ITSG-33, C5, ISM, ISO). Quick learner who is interested in solving complex problems, with a proactive mindset to anticipate and resolve technical obstacles, and identify which critical security challenges to tackle next. Self-driven and passionate professional who remains humble while influencing stakeholders, risk decisions, and security designs, balancing competing priorities to align on the best outcomes.
