Job description

The Information Systems Security Specialist designs and enforces policies and procedures that protect our organization’s computing infrastructure from all forms of security threat. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing, upgrading, and troubleshooting on-prem computer, communication, and security systems used in the daily operations of the Company in support of electric motor and generator manufacturing. Main Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Interpret government policies for the development and implementation of security plans and procedures.
  • Review and revise security plans, procedures, and instructions. Performing audits, etc.
  • Supervise daily facility security activities to enforce government and company security policies.
  • Audit system behavior and monitor firewalls to protect sensitive information and uphold cybersecurity protocols.
  • Review logs and assess the intended functionality and efficiency of information systems.
  • Maintain system integrity and policy standards to allow continued operation of approved information systems.
  • Anticipate system needs and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in the field of computer information systems, information technology or computer science required.
  • Knowledge of the government security and information assurance processes. Knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-series on Cyber Security (specifically NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-171)
  • For Classified Systems - NISPOM, DAAPM, and RMF. Great knowledge of, not necessary experienced in to start but willing to learn/pick-up.
  • Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software and hardware.
  • Communicate effectively with management to provide status updates, ensure compliance with NISPOM requirements and provides guidance on security related questions or concerns.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Efficient troubleshooting abilities.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
