Job description

This Cambridge based company (near to rail and bus links) is recruiting for an IT Systems Engineer to join their IT team. The company is a mix of IT operations and software product development. A key focus is on software messaging tools which internal teams and their customers use, hence is a particular responsibility for this IT team.

The IT team provide expertise around networking, servers, database platforms and cloud environments. Engineers need to have the aptitude to learn and pick up new technologies. They provide continuous cover and support, and this role would include working 1-week-in-4 as out-of-hours cover (usually it is quiet but this provision is there in case something does happen).

Requirements

Demonstrable industry experience as an IT Systems Engineer or IT Network Engineer.
Prior experience with core IT networking systems including MS Server or cloud environments (AWS / Azure).
A natural technical problem solver with an interest to learn and pick up new technologies when needed.
Good communication skills (staying calm under pressure, building a rapport, and understanding problems and how to solve them).
Full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK (British, holds indefinite leave or EU settled status). Applicants with time-restricted visas or visas requiring company sponsorship will not be considered.

The role can be office based or hybrid (minimally 2 days in the office). Candidates should be based close to Cambridge (within 45mins of their offices) in case they are needed to be in the office at short notice. Their offices are close to the train station and bus routes. A car park is available for those who drive to the office.
