Job description

Location: Rayville, LA (Onsite) Who This Role is Great For

  • Candidates from electrical, low-voltage, audio/visual (AV), telecommunications, security systems, utility/lineman, or similar trades
  • Technicians who enjoy physical, hands-on work and want to gain experience in large-scale technology infrastructure environments Position Summary The Data Center Cable Technician supports the installation, routing, and organization of fiber optic and copper network cabling within a data center environment. Technicians will work alongside experienced team members to build and maintain the critical infrastructure that supports servers, networking equipment, and cloud technology systems. This position is ideal for candidates who have some prior cabling experience and are looking to expand their skills in structured cabling and data center operations. Additional training will be provided on data center standards, fiber optic systems, and installation best practices. Key Responsibilities Cable Installation

  • Pull, route, and secure fiber optic and copper (Cat5e/Cat6) cabling throughout the data center
  • Install cabling through overhead pathways, cable trays, and ladder rack systems
  • Assist with cable routing according to project drawings and installation standards
  • Support fiber and copper infrastructure deployments under the direction of lead technicians Cable Termination & Organization

  • Label, organize, bundle, and dress cables for clean and efficient installations
  • Assist with basic copper terminations, punch-downs, and connectivity testing
  • Learn fiber optic handling, routing, and installation best practices
  • Maintain accurate cable identification and documentation Data Center & Site Support

  • Transport materials, cable reels, tools, and equipment throughout the project site
  • Work from ladders and personnel lifts when required
  • Support rack, cabinet, and pathway buildout activities
  • Assist lead technicians and project leads with daily installation tasks Safety & Quality

  • Follow all site-specific safety requirements and PPE guidelines
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Adhere to structured cabling and data center quality standards
  • Follow installation procedures and work instructions accurately

Requirements

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in cabling-related work, including one or more of the following:
  • Structured cabling
  • Low-voltage installation
  • Electrical work
  • Audio/Visual (AV) installation
  • Security or access control systems
  • Telecommunications
  • Utility or lineman work
  • Similar field installation experience

  • Experience pulling, routing, organizing, or terminating cable in a commercial, industrial, or construction environment
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools and job-site equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work throughout the day
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in active construction environments
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber optic or copper network cabling
  • Basic understanding of Cat5e/Cat6 installations
  • Exposure to data centers, telecommunications, or commercial construction projects
  • Ability to read basic construction drawings or cable pathway layouts
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or similar safety training
  • Experience using cable testing, labeling, or certification equipment What You’ll Gain

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
