Clean Code Principles Automation of Tests Software Quality Code Review Online Banking Reliability Engineering Secure Coding Backend Api Design Domain Driven Design

Job description

We are partnering with a fast-growing European fintech transforming the way SMEs manage their finances. Its modern online banking platform serves businesses across Europe, combining a strong product culture with the technical rigour, reliability, and security expected in financial services.

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing, international engineering team where you will shape critical backend systems, influence architecture across multiple squads, and help set the technical direction for a rapidly evolving platform.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the architecture and delivery of scalable, highly reliable backend services written in Go.
  • Solve complex distributed-systems problems involving performance, resilience, observability, and correctness.
  • Drive technical initiatives across several engineering squads, from discovery through production rollout.
  • Partner closely with Product, Platform, Data, and Engineering leaders to turn customer needs into pragmatic, high-impact solutions.
  • Apply Domain-Driven Design to create clear service boundaries and maintainable domain models.
  • Raise engineering standards across testing, code quality, documentation, operational readiness, and incident prevention.
  • Mentor engineers and provide thoughtful technical leadership without stepping away from hands-on development.

Requirements

  • Significant backend engineering experience, with deep commercial experience using Go in production.
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale, distributed, API-driven services.
  • Proven technical leadership across complex projects involving multiple teams or systems.
  • Strong knowledge of scalable system design, reliability engineering, secure development, and software observability.
  • A product mindset: you care about the customer and can connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
  • High standards for clean code, automated testing, constructive code reviews, and long-term maintainability.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders in English.

Benefits & conditions

  • Fully remote working within agreed European hiring locations.
  • Salary: Up to €125,000 + annual bonus + equity
  • Annual performance bonus and equity.
  • Comprehensive health insurance for you and your dependents, including dental and vision cover.
  • Generous holiday allowance and a culture that values sustainable performance.
  • Learning budget, senior mentorship, and genuine scope to grow your technical leadership.
  • A diverse, inclusive, international team building a product with real impact for SMEs.
