Job description

We are looking for an engineer who enjoys working at the boundary between software, controls, emulation and mechatronics.

You will work directly on a complex automated sorting system consisting of mechanical, electrical and software components. Your work will not stop at writing code. You will be involved in understanding how hardware components, drives, sensors, actuators and control software interact as an integrated system.

Together with software, controls, mechanical and system engineers, you will help improve product functionality, engineering efficiency, testability and product quality.

What you do

  • Develop Embedded Features: Develop and maintain embedded software solutions in line with our controls roadmap. Analyze and troubleshoot complex mechatronic system behavior.

  • CI/CD & DevOps: Build, stabilize, and maintain automation pipelines, artifact management systems, and release governance to support continuous deployment.

  • Scale Emulation Systems: Maintain and extend simulators and digital twins, integrating them with CI/CD pipelines to lift our automated testing capacity.

  • Automate Deployments: Bring code reviews and unit tests into the daily flow while automating deployments across different systems.

  • Bridge the Chain: Establish technical standards, improve developer experience, and ensure full traceability from Jira through to Gherkin.

  • Travel: Travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities and project sites to support, evaluate processes, and design improvements

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

  • Embedded Software Expertise: Solid professional experience writing and reviewing Embedded C code. Experience with C++ is preferred.

  • Linux: Experience with Linux and networking in Linux, preferably with real-time Linux

  • Industrial Networks: Experience with industrial fieldbuses, such as Ethernet/IP and CIP

  • Scripting: Experience with Python or a similar scripting language is preferred.

  • DevOps Mindset: Proven track record stabilizing CI/CD pipelines and managing automated deployment environments.

  • Emulation & Testing Skills: Experience working with digital twins, hardware simulators, or automated test pipelines.

  • Collaborative & Proactive: A reliable team player who naturally shares knowledge and champions distributed ownership.

  • Quality Focused: Passionate about automated testing, unit tests, code reviews, and delivering first-time-right software.

  • Mechatronics & Systems: Experience with complex mechatronic systems alongside a strong affinity for mechanical and electrical systems

  • Embedded Controllers: Experience with embedded controllers (such as Cortex-M, STM32 is strongly preferred.

  • MATLAB: Experience with MATLAB and integrating MATLAB-generated C code is strongly preferred.

In this challenging and responsible position, you will have the chance to make a significant contribution to industry-leading projects and be connected to our dedicated people and customers. We offer a position in an informal, international and professional working environment with a lot of scope for personal development. By joining our profitable and growing company you will be able to reach your goals and focus on your future.

Benefits & conditions

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 4500 to € 5900 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.

On top of your fixed salary you’ll receive the following secondary benefits:

  • 40 vacation days (20 statutory days and a flexible budget worth 20 days).
  • Flexible working hours.
  • A hybrid workplace (40% working from home and 60% in the office).
  • A Health & Wellbeing budget worth €300,- per calendar year.
