Artificial Intelligence Applicant Tracking Systems Computer Clusters Data Centers Distributed Systems Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Load Balancing Performance Testing

Job description

The Supermicro Data Center team is seeking an Data Center Electrical Engineer to maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize critical electrical infrastructure supporting high-density AI/ML compute environments across our AI next-generation data center facilities. This role focuses on ensuring 100% uptime for mission-critical liquid-cooled and air-cooled GPU clusters, high-density server racks (50kW-240kW+ per rack), medium/low-voltage power distribution systems, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, main switchgear, and standby generators., * Operations & Maintenance: Inspect, service, and maintain UPS systems, main switchgear, isolation transformers, ATS, diesel generators, PDUs, RPPs, and overhead busways.

  • AI Rack Provisioning: Execute circuit provisioning, manage whip runs, smart PDU installations, and phase balancing for high-density GPU racks ( per rack).
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with mechanical, liquid cooling, and cabling teams during rack commissioning, burn-in, and load bank testing.
  • Monitoring & Diagnostics: Track EPMS, SCADA, and BMS telemetry for alarms, transient spikes, THD, and phase load variances. Conduct routine IR thermography to detect thermal anomalies.
  • Emergency Response: Act as a first responder for 24/7 power outages, generator failovers, and breaker trips; assist engineers with Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Requirements

  • Critical Power Systems: Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing UPS systems, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, isolation transformers, automatic transfer switches (ATS), diesel generators, PDUs, RPPs, and overhead busway systems.
  • High-Density AI Power Infrastructure: Experience with circuit provisioning, whip installation, smart PDU deployment, 3-phase power distribution, and phase/load balancing for high-density GPU and AI compute racks.
  • Monitoring & Diagnostics: Proficiency monitoring and interpreting EPMS, SCADA, and BMS data, including alarms, transient events, total harmonic distortion (THD), phase imbalance, and load variances. Experience performing infrared (IR) thermography and identifying electrical and thermal anomalies.
  • Commissioning & Testing: Experience supporting electrical commissioning, load bank testing, rack burn-in, energization, and functional performance testing. Ability to coordinate with mechanical, liquid cooling, controls, and structured cabling teams during data center deployments.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Ability to respond to electrical alarms, breaker trips, UPS events, generator failovers, and power distribution abnormalities. Experience supporting root-cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and emergency response in mission-critical environments.
  • Safety & Operational Procedures: Working knowledge of electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash hazards, switching procedures, preventive maintenance, and mission-critical facility operating procedures.

Benefits & conditions

$110,000 - $120,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
