Job description

We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) with hands-on Snowflake administration, SQL, data governance, and data pipeline/ETL experience to join a small analytics team supporting a major technology modernization initiative.

This role will be responsible for maintaining the team’s data architecture, administering Snowflake databases and role-based access controls, supporting data governance, developing and optimizing SQL, and building and maintaining data pipelines. The DBA will also serve as a Data/Product Owner for multiple analytics programs and datasets.

The environment includes Snowflake, SQL, Python, SAS, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau, and AWS technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and support Snowflake databases.
  • Coordinate, test, and implement database changes and resolve database issues.
  • Create, modify, and manage database objects.
  • Maintain the intended data architecture and help ensure consistency across the analytics team.
  • Implement and support data governance standards and processes.
  • Manage end-to-end user access requests, including approvals, provisioning, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
  • Author, troubleshoot, optimize, and performance-tune complex SQL queries and views.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Support job orchestration and cloud scheduling, including AWS Lambda.
  • Use Python for scripting and automation.
  • Document data architecture, database structures, and program-specific data flows.
  • Serve as Data/Product Owner for multiple analytics programs and datasets.
  • Build and enhance datasets and reporting for assigned programs.
  • Support customer and stakeholder inquiries regarding available data, reporting, enhancements, and existing tools.
  • Partner with Data Specialists, Data Scientists, and report developers to plan data solutions and avoid duplicative or conflicting outputs.
  • Support modernization efforts as the analytics organization transitions from a legacy SAS-based platform to a modern reporting and analytics framework.
  • Assist with managing the team’s technology footprint, including Snowflake, SAS, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Power BI, and Tableau., 1. Snowflake Database Administration Hands-on administration, implementation, debugging, troubleshooting, tracing, and issue resolution.
  1. Data Governance & Architecture Experience maintaining scalable data architecture, governance practices, database objects, access controls, and technical documentation.

  2. SQL / Data Pipelines / ETL Strong SQL query engineering combined with data pipeline and ETL development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

About the Team & Opportunity

You’ll join a collaborative team of approximately six professionals focused on modernizing the organization’s analytics and business intelligence capabilities.

The team is developing a sustainable, high-velocity data platform designed to enhance business insights across Supply Chain and Procurement. This DBA will play an important role in the design, implementation, governance, and ongoing management of that platform.

The role offers a combination of hands-on database administration, data engineering, architecture, governance, stakeholder support, and modernization work rather than traditional database maintenance alone.

Requirements

  • 2 4 years of relevant database administration/data engineering experience.
  • Associate’s degree in Computer Programming or a relevant field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Hands-on Snowflake Database Administration experience, including:

  • Implementation
  • Debugging and troubleshooting
  • Performance tracing
  • Issue resolution

Strong SQL skills, including query and view development, troubleshooting, optimization, and performance tuning.

Experience with data governance and data architecture.

Experience developing and supporting ETL/data pipelines.

Experience with Python scripting and automation.

Experience with job orchestration and cloud scheduling technologies such as AWS Lambda.

Experience administering role-based access controls (RBAC).

Experience documenting data architecture and program-specific data flows.

Experience with version control systems and code review processes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.

Strong attention to detail and customer/stakeholder support skills.
