A leading financial technology firm is looking to appoint an experienced Database Platform Engineer to join its growing Platform Engineering team.

Working across both on-premise infrastructure and AWS, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and operating highly available database platforms that support large-scale engineering workloads. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys automation, performance tuning, and solving complex infrastructure challenges.

The role

• Build, operate, and scale enterprise database platforms
• Support PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB and other relational database technologies
• Develop automation using Python, Terraform, and Ansible
• Optimise database performance, resilience, and scalability
• Design and improve monitoring, alerting, and platform reliability
• Collaborate closely with software and platform engineering teams
• Drive operational excellence across mission-critical database services

Requirements

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB or similar database technologies
• Experience operating database platforms at scale
• Strong Linux and Python skills
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Ansible or similar
• Kubernetes and container platform experience
• AWS experience
• Strong understanding of automation and platform engineering principles

Package

• Up to £150,000 base salary
• Annual discretionary bonus
• Hybrid working (3 days per week)
