Data Architect

A leading UK organisation operating at the forefront of national security and geospatial intelligence is seeking a Data Architect to help design and deliver secure, high-impact data solutions. This is a hands-on role shaping data capability that directly supports critical decision-making in complex, high-stakes environments.

Role Overview

Location: Gloucester, London or Manchester (up to 80% onsite) Package: Competitive salary + benefits Industry: National Security / Data & Geospatial Technology

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing end-to-end data architectures that support secure, mission-critical environments
• Translating complex requirements into scalable, tailored data solutions
• Developing and embedding data strategy, governance, and best practice frameworks
• Leading delivery across modern data platforms and cloud-based technologies
• Building proof-of-concept solutions and supporting innovation across data capability
• Working closely with stakeholders, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure alignment and impact
• Supporting the development of reusable frameworks, tools, and managed service offerings
• Applying secure-by-design principles in highly regulated environments

Main Skills Needed

• Strong background in data architecture, including modelling, integration, transformation, and migration
• Experience with data governance, metadata, and master data management
• Proven ability to support analytics environments and AI-enabled solutions
• Strong data quality experience, including KPI definition and automated validation approaches
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS and/or Azure) such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, ADF, Synapse or equivalent
• Ability to operate in highly secure environments (active DV clearance required)
• Confident communicator with experience engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders
