About the role

HargreavesLansdown is seeking a full-stack engineer (React/Typescript/Node.js) to build and enhance our digital experiences on a headless content platform. The position is based in Bristol and focuses on creating high-quality, cloud-native applications that enable personalised client journeys across devices and channels.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and run AWS Cloud-native applications with TypeScript, Node.js and React.
  • Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform and AWS services.
  • Implement automated tests for mandatory changes.
  • Write high-quality, secure, performant code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to deliver compelling digital client journeys.
  • Advocate continuous improvement across quality, security, performance and CI/CD processes.
  • Document all solutions to agreed team standards.
  • Participate in working groups and communities of practice.
  • Provide engineering support for existing applications when required.
  • Mentor and coach peers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience developing and maintaining client and server-side applications.
  • Experience building infrastructure as code and working with AWS or similar.
  • Strong debugging, root-cause analysis and resolution of production issues.
  • Familiarity with unit, integration and end-to-end testing tools (e.g. Jest, Playwright).
  • Experience integrating and onboarding 3rd-party vendors, defining patterns and abstracting APIs.
  • Understanding of microservices and RESTful API development (structuring, documentation, versioning, testing, stubbing/mocking).
  • Experience performing code reviews and operating within an Agile framework.
  • Pro-active DevOps culture, CI/CD pipeline and trunk-based development.
  • Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript.
  • Fluent use of Git (GitLab).
  • Awareness of website performance best practices and non-functional requirements.
  • Ability to write, review or assist in technical documentation.

Desirables

  • Experience with a headless CMS (Contentful) and Jamstack architecture.
  • Experience with large datasets and distributed systems.
  • Experience with MarTech solutions (Analytics, A/B Testing, Personalisation, Tag Management).
  • Professional experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, EventBridge, SQS and ECS.
