The core product is a highly complex real-time shift rota application hosted on AWS and available via the web or mobile device (iOS / Android).

As a Software Engineer you will play a crucial role in re-architecting and enhancing the scheduling platform to a Java and Angular codebase (from Ruby and TypeScript). You’ll focus on designing and developing scalable backend Java services and REST APIs, building responsive front-end work, and writing and optimising SQL database queries.

You’ll contribute to technical discussions and decision-making as a senior member of a small team, influencing best practice and technology choices.

Location / WFH:

You’ll join colleagues in a London, City-based office 3-4 days a week, with some flexibility to work from home 1-2 days.

About you:

  • You have strong Java backend software development skills including Spring Boot.
  • You have experience with relational databases and SQL query writing.
  • You have a strong understanding of REST APIs and real-time systems.
  • You’re comfortable working with legacy Ruby.
  • You have a strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and Agile development methodologies.
  • You’re collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills, happy to mentor and develop others.
