Job description

Senior Software Engineer specializing in UI/UX and front-end development for complex enterprise ASP.NET MVC 5 applications, with strong expertise in accessibility, C#, SQL Server, and DevExpress.

Combines hands-on engineering with user-centered design to deliver accessible, well-tested, production-ready interfaces and technical documentation.

Works independently and collaboratively with stakeholders and technology teams to deliver high-quality solutions within established timelines.

Requirements

  • 5 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on front-end / UI development
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with an emphasis on writing clean, semantic, maintainable markup
  • Demonstrated experience applying UI/UX design principles information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and usability best practices to real product interfaces
  • Hands-on experience implementing and testing for web accessibility, including WCAG 2.1/2.2 (AA) and Section 508 compliance
  • Practical experience with ARIA roles/attributes, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and testing with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver)
  • Strong proficiency in C# and the ASP.NET MVC 5 framework
  • Experience developing and supporting full-stack .NET applications in a Windows environment
  • Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design/data modeling and writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support UI features
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and core computer science principles
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end interfaces with internal and external systems
  • Experience with unit testing and supporting QA, usability testing, and release processes
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best engineering practices
  • Ability to analyze requirements, debug complex UI and cross-browser issues, and deliver reliable, polished solutions

Prederred Skills

  • Experience with DevExpress UI components and reporting tools
  • Formal training or certification in UX design, accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC/WAS), or human-centered design
  • Experience conducting or supporting usability testing, accessibility audits, or design reviews
  • Familiarity with design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) and translating designs into accessible front-end code
  • Experience with financial aid, student systems, or higher education data
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy .NET applications, particularly front-end layers
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and source control systems such as Git
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate for users and accessibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders
