Requirements
- 5 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on front-end / UI development
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with an emphasis on writing clean, semantic, maintainable markup
- Demonstrated experience applying UI/UX design principles information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and usability best practices to real product interfaces
- Hands-on experience implementing and testing for web accessibility, including WCAG 2.1/2.2 (AA) and Section 508 compliance
- Practical experience with ARIA roles/attributes, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and testing with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver)
- Strong proficiency in C# and the ASP.NET MVC 5 framework
- Experience developing and supporting full-stack .NET applications in a Windows environment
- Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design/data modeling and writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support UI features
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and core computer science principles
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end interfaces with internal and external systems
- Experience with unit testing and supporting QA, usability testing, and release processes
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best engineering practices
- Ability to analyze requirements, debug complex UI and cross-browser issues, and deliver reliable, polished solutions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with DevExpress UI components and reporting tools
- Formal training or certification in UX design, accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC/WAS), or human-centered design
- Experience conducting or supporting usability testing, accessibility audits, or design reviews
- Familiarity with design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) and translating designs into accessible front-end code
- Experience with financial aid, student systems, or higher education data
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy .NET applications, particularly front-end layers
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and source control systems such as Git
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate for users and accessibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
