Job description

Legion Technical Solutions is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support one of the nation’s premier aerospace, defense, and intelligence technology organizations in Aurora, Colorado.

You’ll join an engineering team supporting a high-priority 24x7 operational system within the Intelligence Community. This role combines hands-on cybersecurity engineering, RMF/A&A, vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, and technical risk analysis across multiple classified environments.

The ISSE will help identify vulnerabilities, assess cyber risk, drive remediation, and provide leadership with actionable information needed to maintain the security posture of mission-critical systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Implement Information Assurance and cybersecurity processes throughout the system development lifecycle using RMF and ServiceNow.

  • Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), security policies, authorization packages, and supporting documentation.

  • Perform vulnerability and compliance analysis using technologies such as ACAS, ArcSight, Splunk, HBSS, UAM, and Cyber Terrain Mapping.

  • Support cybersecurity operations across 100+ nodes and multiple classification levels.

  • Conduct Continuous Monitoring (ConMon), assess control effectiveness, and develop Body of Evidence (BoE) documentation.

  • Identify vulnerabilities, assess risk, and develop mitigation and remediation strategies.

  • Manage POA&M activities, milestones, remediation plans, and vulnerability closure.

  • Configure and harden COTS components using applicable DISA STIGs.

  • Review system architecture, requirements, design documentation, test plans, and security plans.

  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and technical reviews.

  • Coordinate closely with ISSOs, ISSMs, Systems Engineers, System Administrators, Software Engineers, and other cybersecurity professionals.

  • Brief program leadership and customers on vulnerabilities, remediation activities, and overall security posture.

  • Provide occasional after-hours support for the 24x7 operational environment.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the applicable requirements for this position:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

  • Minimum 5 years of security experience supporting the U.S. Government or a government contractor within the Intelligence Community (IC).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems Security, or another related STEM discipline; 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II or higher cybersecurity certification.

  • Experience implementing security requirements through RMF and/or other Authorization & Accreditation (A&A) processes.

  • Experience developing security authorization requirements and performing vulnerability assessments.

  • Experience with Continuous Monitoring and network monitoring.

  • Experience configuring and hardening COTS components using STIGs.

  • Security systems engineering experience involving Linux/CentOS environments and LAN/WAN configurations.

  • Experience with architecture, requirements, design, integration, and testing within the product development lifecycle.

  • Experience developing and managing vulnerability remediation and POA&M activities.

  • Ability to participate effectively in technical reviews with internal and external customers.

For candidates whose background is outside the Intelligence Community, the position calls for approximately 10 years of related Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering experience supporting the government or a government contractor.

  • DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • ACAS, Splunk, ArcSight, HBSS, and related enterprise cybersecurity technologies
