3 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants

We’re looking for a skilled Frontend Developer with expertise in TypeScript and React to build and enhance the cutting-edge design and analysis tools behind our revolutionary eProtein Discovery platform. Join us in shaping the future of protein prototyping technology!

Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. The company’s mission is to improve human health by making proteins accessible. We are beginning this mission through the launch of our eProtein Discovery platform. eProtein Discovery is a breakthrough protein expression, characterization, and purification technology, consisting of a lab-based benchtop instrument, cloud-based software and proprietary cartridges and consumables. The goal is to enable rapid protein access to life science researchers around the world.

We are looking for an experienced frontend or full-stack software engineer to join our team of engineers working on both the cloud-based and on-instrument software used by our customers to design and execute experiments on the eProtein Discovery platform. You’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, including gathering requirements from biologists and other stakeholders, translating those requirements into UI designs and working with backend engineers to implement those designs in code. No prior knowledge of biology is necessary, but curiosity and an eagerness to learn is critical. The culture in the software team supports in-office and hybrid working.

About the role:

  • Have at least 3 years industry experience as a software engineer.
  • Be ready to take ownership of code and keep it up-to-date with the latest best-practices
  • Have a passion for translating complex requirements into simple, easy-to-understand user interfaces
  • Have a strong interest in backend development
  • Be curious about protein synthesis

Requirements

You should have experience with the following languages, tools and methodologies:

  • React with state management libraries such as Redux

  • HTML and CSS
  • Webpack
  • Version control with Git
  • Unit testing with Jest, React testing library or similar framework
  • Java and Python
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Agile software development and code reviews

Desirable

It would be beneficial for you to have some experience with:

  • Data visualisation libraries e.g. D3, websockets and storybook
  • Design tools such as Figma and Balsamiq
  • Cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform
