Job description

Our Defence client is currently searching for an IT&T Test Engineer to join their team in Portsdown Technology Park. The Integration Test & Trials Automation Test Engineer will deliver and be responsible for automating and scripting Test development and assurance scripts for acceptance testing of the NSoIT(D) IT systems The individual will report to the project Test Managers and be integrated into the IT&T team to be responsible for automating new and existing manual Test Scripts for the Core/Hub Networks, undertaking formal & informal testing in support of the System Test Plan and Test Script proving on Test & Development Rig(s).

Main Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead on the developing Automation of Testing for the Programme.
  • Automation of existing Configuration and System Integration test scripts.
  • Generation of new automated test scripts working in conjunction with the Engineering Team.
  • Preparation of test documentation including test plans, test scripts, evidence collection, defect reports and progress updates.
  • Performing manual functional, non-functional and regression testing.
  • Documenting test procedures and writing release notes.
  • Input to Test Management Software (TestRail, QTest, Xray).
  • Utilise and input to Confluence and Jira, working within Agile methodologies.

Requirements

  • Experience in BDD and Gherkin syntax test creation/workflows.
  • Experience in Python and key packages (Behave, Flask, Pyvmomi, Asyncio, PyKeepass).
  • Experience of PowerShell & Bash.
  • Experience with ETL workflows.
  • Jenkins - CI/CD pipeline.
  • Exceptional communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience delivering within secure or regulated environments.
  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC).
  • Ability to respond to changing project time scales and prioritise work accordingly.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Microsoft Server 2012R2/16/19 based technologies such as AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, SfB, SQL, etc.
  • MCSE/MCSA Server 2012R2, VMWARE VCP.
  • Virtualisation capabilities such as VDI and multi-tenancy.
  • Knowledge of Military Information Services such as NATO FAS, UK Base Services and MOD Business management applications.
  • PKI integration and utilisation and preferably experience with Defence PKI.
