We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Junior-Mid Software Developer to join our expanding development team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer looking to take the next step in their career by working on enterprise-grade applications and cloud-native solutions using C#, .NET 8, and AWS.

As part of a multidisciplinary agile team, you’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and maintenance. You’ll be working on a range of projects, from greenfield cloud platforms to enhancing and scaling our existing systems that support thousands of users daily.

This role offers significant scope for professional growth, with mentorship from senior engineers, exposure to modern DevOps practices, and access to AWS training and certification support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure backend applications using C#, .NET 6/8, and ASP.NET Core
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices that power web and mobile platforms
  • Work with AWS cloud services (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, S3, RDS, API Gateway) to deliver highly available solutions
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and QA Engineers to deliver high-quality software in iterative sprints
  • Write unit and integration tests using xUnit, NUnit, or similar frameworks
  • Participate in peer code reviews, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices
  • Support CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline
  • Contribute ideas to improve software design, performance, and development workflows
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during releases or production incidents

Skills & Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in a commercial software development role
  • Proficiency in C# and the .NET Core / .NET 8 ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and SOLID principles
  • Experience building REST APIs and working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)
  • Basic familiarity with AWS services or another major cloud platform (Azure, GCP)
  • Version control experience using Git and familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, or CloudFormation
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
  • Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
  • Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures (SNS, SQS, Kafka)
  • Unit testing, mocking frameworks, and test automation practices
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Developer - Associate)

What’s in It for You

  • Competitive salary and annual performance bonus
  • Flexible hybrid working - typically 2 days per week in our Leeds City Centre office
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with service)
  • Private healthcare, life assurance, and company pension scheme
