Job description

  • We build and operate software products used by our staff and autonomy partners.
  • We develop services, APIs, integrations, and user interfaces across the Portal platform.
  • We work across microservices, web frontends, cloud infrastructure, and partner-facing systems.
  • We improve the reliability, observability, and operability of the Portal platform.
  • We triage and resolve production issues, whether reported by customers or detected through internal monitoring.
  • Once established, we participate in an out-of-hours on-call and support rotation.
  • We solve problems end-to-end: understand the customer need, design the solution, build it, ship it, and keep it running.

More:

We are Wayve, founded in 2017 and the leading developer of Embodied AI technology. Our advanced AI software and foundation models enable vehicles to perceive, understand, and navigate complex environments, improving the usability and safety of automated driving systems. Our AI Portal team is a small, high-ownership SaaS team that acts as the airlock between our company and our commercial partners, managing data flows, partner integrations, operational tooling, and web interfaces for internal and external audiences. We work like a startup within a scale-up, close to our customers and commercial frontier, and we own the systems we ship end to end. This full-time role is based in our London office with a hybrid working policy that combines time in our offices and workshops with time working from home. We value diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning, and we encourage candidates who are passionate about self-driving cars and want to make a positive impact to apply.

Requirements

  • We have strong software engineering experience, ideally with Java, Python, and TypeScript/React.
  • We have experience building and operating production systems, ideally as part of a small team.
  • We have experience building multi-tenant platforms or APIs for external users.
  • We have experience building tools and processes that make our team faster.
  • We have experience with enterprise SaaS, B2B platforms, or customer-facing production systems.
  • We are comfortable working across the stack, including infrastructure, backend services, APIs, and frontend development, although this role is backend leaning.
  • We have experience with on-call, incident response, or support rotation for a production system.
  • We have strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with stakeholders.
  • We are product-minded and care about user problems, not just technical implementation.
  • We have a high sense of ownership in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • We are motivated by a startup within a scale-up: small team, big impact, enterprise grade.
  • Experience working with automotive, mobility, robotics, or autonomy partners is desirable.
  • Experience with secure data flows, cross-cloud integrations, or partner environments is desirable.
