Job description
- We shape and implement the technical roadmap in one of three key areas: robot emulator fidelity, visual fidelity, or efficient scaling.
- We work closely with our robotics, research, platform, and data teams, as well as our Simulation Technology team, to ensure our simulation platform meets end-user needs.
- We own key performance indicators for simulator cost, SLOs, throughput, latency, and related metrics.
- We work cross-company to align technical dependencies for simulator implementation.
- We lead technical discussions and guide technical direction.
- We integrate the components of the simulated robot into the simulation platform.
- We integrate machine-learned graphics subsystems into the simulation platform.
- We implement production-quality software in Python.

Requirements
- We require 5+ years of industry experience designing and programming software.
- We require excellent development skills in Python.
- We require experience with workflow orchestration systems such as Airflow, Dagster, or Flyte, and/or developing data-intensive applications.
- We require deep knowledge of Kubernetes at the user level.
- We require a strong understanding of systems and data-oriented software engineering design, including code reusability and extensibility.
- We require an understanding of common software performance issues and design tradeoffs.
- We require excellent communication and people engagement skills.
- We value experience in autonomous vehicles or robotics.
- We value proficiency in additional programming languages such as Go or C++.
- We value experience scaling simulations or data-intensive workloads.
- We value experience designing, implementing, and optimizing large-scale machine learning inference systems in cloud GPU environments.
- We value experience operating and scaling modern machine-learned graphics techniques such as NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, or GenAI.
