Job description

Lockheed Martin Space is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering and Integration Team .

The Systems Engineering and Integration Team is responsible for the oversight, development, and coordination of Reentry Body (RB) development programs. The selected individual will oversee the technical development of a Reentry Body test flight while coordinating across multiple organizations including various design disciplines (mechanical, electrical, RF), flight sciences, FBM Missile Engineering, contracts, Finance, as well as the Navy Customer. The selected individual will coordinate a single or multiple projects and be responsible for the technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, and risk analysis, and be the overall owner of the project(s).

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle
  • Demonstrated knowledge executing the different areas of systems engineering to include requirements generation, and verification
  • Excellent, demonstrated communication, presentation, and people skills are required as this position requires frequent briefings to senior leadership as well as the Navy Customer
  • Experience in successfully leading projects/programs to meet customer requirements while meeting program objectives and schedule
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance throughout the course of employment is required for this position

Desired Skills

  • Experience with working with multi-functional teams
  • Validated knowledge of Systems Engineering disciplines, to include Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Validated experience successfully leading multiple efforts concurrently
  • Confirmed implementation of Systems Engineering Practices, Risk Management principles, Cost Savings initiatives, and Program Planning
  • High level of accountability
  • Ability to produce high quality presentation material
  • Knowledge of and experience with Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Programs
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited school. STEM degree preferred (Electrical, Mechanical, Aersospace)
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
