Backend API Engineer

We are looking for a Backend API Engineer to help build and scale secure, reliable APIs, for our client in the banking sector. You’ll join a modern engineering environment where you can take real ownership of your work. The focus is on API development, security, scalability and quality rather than complex domain knowledge. Your job

• Build and improve secure REST APIs and backend services.
• Design APIs with scalability, reliability, and developer experience in mind.
• Work with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, relational databases, and asynchronous systems.
• Contribute to testing, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Help strengthen the platform through security improvements, performance testing, and resilience.
• Take ownership of features from design through delivery.
• Make effective use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining high engineering standards.

• Experienced Backend Engineer with strong TypeScript/Node.js skills.
• Solid understanding of API design, security, testing, and cloud-native development.
• Hands-on AWS experience is mandatory.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical delivery.
• Pragmatic, quality-focused, and able to make sound engineering decisions.
• Strong communicator who is comfortable working from technical specifications and documenting decisions.
