Job description
An established and growing multidisciplinary civil engineering consultancy is looking for an Infrastructure Technician to join its Swindon team. This is a great opportunity for someone at the early stages of their civil engineering career who wants to develop hands-on experience across highways, drainage and development infrastructure. You’ll work on a varied range of residential, commercial and leisure projects, supporting the detailed design of both private and adoptable infrastructure schemes. You’ll also have the opportunity to work directly with clients, local authorities and wider design teams, with plenty of support and training as your experience develops. The Role Your responsibilities will include: Preparing detailed infrastructure designs for residential, commercial and leisure developments; Producing engineering drawings using AutoCAD 2D; Supporting highway, drainage and external works design; Working on both private and adoptable infrastructure schemes; Liaising with clients, council officers and multidisciplinary design teams; Attending site visits and project meetings; Applying relevant technical standards and guidance; and Managing and prioritising your own project workload. You’ll receive a combination of on-the-job technical training and external training, with experienced engineers available to support your development.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with: A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, ideally in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; Some relevant experience within civil engineering or infrastructure - placement or year-in-industry experience will be considered; Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D; Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; A logical and creative approach to problem solving; and The ability to organise and prioritise your workload. Knowledge of AutoCAD 3D, PDS, Civil 3D, Site3D or InfoDrainage would be beneficial, although training can be provided. An understanding of guidance such as Manual for Streets, DMRB, Local Highway Standards, Sewers for Adoption and Building Regulations would also be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is desirable due to occasional travel to sites and meetings.
