Job description

A growing technical team is looking for a Data Engineer to join them at an exciting point in their data journey. This is a remote-first, permanent role within a small and collaborative technical team, where you’ll have genuine influence over how the data environment develops. You’ll work alongside two other Data Engineers/Analysts, providing technical support and mentoring while getting involved in a range of projects across the data platform. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit an existing environment and keep things ticking over. There’s plenty of opportunity to improve, modernise and shape the way data is collected, transformed and used across the business. What’s coming up? The immediate priority is a migration to Microsoft Fabric, giving you the opportunity to play a key role in moving the existing data environment towards a more modern architecture. Once the migration is underway, the role will develop into a varied mix of BAU, platform improvements, optimisation and new project work. You’ll be involved in:

  • Designing, building and improving data pipelines
  • Supporting the migration to Microsoft Fabric
  • Working across SQL Server, Azure and multiple source systems
  • Developing and maintaining data warehouses and data models
  • Building and optimising ETL/ELT processes
  • Improving data quality, monitoring and platform reliability
  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing data processes and architecture
  • Supporting the development of a more modern, scalable data environment
  • Working closely with BI, technology and wider business teams
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the data team
  • Taking ownership of projects from initial requirements through to delivery, * Microsoft Fabric
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Power BI
  • Experience supporting or delivering data platform migrations
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other Data Engineers/Analysts

Why this role? You’ll be joining at a point where there is genuine scope to make a difference. With the Fabric migration ahead, you’ll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, improve existing processes and help shape the future data architecture rather than simply maintaining an established platform. If you enjoy working in a smaller, collaborative technical environment, like having ownership and want your work to have a visible impact, Apply now!

Requirements

  • Strong SQL / Microsoft SQL Server / SSMS
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT
  • Data warehousing and data modelling experience
  • Experience working with Azure or other cloud technologies
  • Git / source control
  • Comfortable working with complex, messy or disparate data
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of projects
