Job description

DUTIES As a successful candidate for the System Engineer II role, you will analyze user requirements, concept of operations (CONOPS) documents, and high-level system architectures to derive detailed system requirements specifications and lead design and development activities. In this position, you will guide stakeholders in formulating requirements, advise on alternative technical approaches, conduct feasibility studies, and provide overarching technical leadership to integrate requirements, design, and technology into ongoing operations. You will author comprehensive system architecture, design, and technical documentation, and guide implementation through systems engineering management plans, integration frameworks, and test plans. Additionally, you will serve as a primary technical liaison to government stakeholders, program personnel, and senior executives, resolving complex technical conflicts and holding ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of all systems engineering deliverables., * Enterprise Architecture Design: Author, review, and maintain comprehensive system architecture and system design documentation across enterprise IT environments

  • Requirements Engineering: Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and high-level system visions to derive formal, testable system requirements specifications
  • Hybrid Infrastructure Engineering: Architect and optimize complex technical infrastructures operating across on-premises (bare-metal/virtualized) and off-premises cloud environments
  • Feasibility & Trade Studies: Guide stakeholders in formulating requirements, evaluate alternative technical approaches, and conduct rigorous technical feasibility studies
  • Integration Leadership: Provide technical leadership for the seamless integration of functional requirements, system designs, and emerging technologies into ongoing operations
  • Verification & Validation Oversight: Guide system development and implementation planning through the authoring and execution of system integration and test plans
  • Stakeholder & Executive Liaison: Interface directly with government overseers, customer leadership, and senior executives to resolve complex engineering considerations and technical conflicts
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary technical teams to align architectural vision with execution schedules
  • Technical Documentation & Defense: Facilitate program alignment by authoring, updating, and defending technical documentation in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs)

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree., * Hands-on experience in systems engineering and IT architecture

  • Proven track record of designing and managing technical architectures for both on-premises enterprise data centers and cloud environments
  • Expert-level experience engineering complex network infrastructure and end-user computing solutions at scale
  • Mastery in authoring formal systems engineering artifacts, including CONOPS, SRS, SDDs, SEMPs, and Test Plans
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with direct experience briefing senior executives on complex technical issues and architectural trade-offs

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
