Job description

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The chosen candidate will join a team reporting to the C2BMC Watch Officer (CWO), responsible for daily system monitoring, operations, and maintenance of the C2BMC network systems in a 24/7 operations and test environment.

Essential Functions:

  • The candidate will provide first-level technical support to the warfighter and perform initial troubleshooting of all local C2BMC network hardware and software

  • Document and report all events/issues to the CWO and receive tasking and direction from the CCC for all operations, tests, and real-world events

  • Assist with all network hardware and software installations as directed by the local SMEs and create and maintain user accounts as directed by the local ISSO

  • Perform additional duties and assignments as needed

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, SecurityX, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start, with the ability to obtain Top Secret and the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance

  • Position requires rotating 24x7 shift work. The selected candidate will be assigned to a 12-hour shift, to be determined by mission requirements

  • Some substitute rotation during off-shifts, including nights and weekends, will be required

  • Sound knowledge of network concepts: LAN/WAN, TCP/IP , and network management and monitoring

  • Sound knowledge of management and monitoring tools and techniques for network infrastructure components and services

  • Knowledge of monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools - Virtualization technologies such as VMware, vCenter, and vSphere

  • Sound knowledge and practical experience with remote access software such as SSH, RDP, FTP , and SCP

  • Sound knowledge of OSPF, Cisco IOS , and Junos commands and troubleshooting

  • Experience in Windows Server maintenance

  • Must be able to work collaboratively within a team environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application and eligibility for SCI are highly desired

  • Knowledge and practical experience in the usage of network management tools

  • Familiarity with encryption devices, specifically TACLANEs

  • Basic understanding of Linux/Unix Server maintenance

  • Experience in liaising with other DoD Agencies and associated network operations organizations

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
