Job description
Performs systems analysis and coordinates the development of systems and/or applications of a specified function or area within a department. The Senior Departmental Systems Analyst position implements, supports, and maintains the technology and systems related to the agendas, reports, and meetings of Metroâs Board of Directors. This position also performs systems analysis to optimize application functions or processes within the purview of the Office of Board Administrationâs Board Systems, Development, and Infrastructure team and will be required to have alternative work hours approximately five (5) days per month.\n \nRecruitment Timeline: Interviews are projected to be scheduled for the week of \nOctober 5, 2026. - Researches functional areas to determine information systems needs\n
- Performs requirements analyses, feasibility studies, and prepares project proposals for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of an information system specific to assigned department\n
- Designs technical systems specifications\n
- Provides input to consultants regarding systems needs and acceptability of alternatives\n
- Evaluates systems to ensure that requirements are properly satisfied\n
- Verifies vendor compliance with contract and work plan\n
- Monitors systems performance and responds to systems emergencies\n
- Troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves system problems\n
- Prepares cost/benefit analysis reports for information processing systems and develops associated justifications for the acquisition of systems products and services\n
- Prepares reports, systems training manuals, and technical systems documentation\n
- Creates and modifies microcomputer programs\n
- Develops advanced microcomputer analytical models and report programs using specified software packages\n
- Designs advanced decision support tools and models used for decision making\n
- Participates in department information security, disaster recovery, and safety programs\n
- Participates in evaluation and awards of contracts to information systems vendors\n
- Oversees, trains, and motivates assigned staff\n, * A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions\n
Requirements
- Bachelorâs Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field\n, * Three years of relevant experience performing systems analysis or computer programming work; some positions in this class may require specialized experience in area of assignment\n, Preferred Qualifications (PQs) are used to identify relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) as determined by business necessity. These criteria are considered preferred qualifications and are not intended to serve as minimum requirements for the position. PQs will help support selection decisions throughout the recruitment. In addition, applicants who possess these PQs will not automatically be selected.\n, * Experience implementing, managing, or administering Board Management and/or Records Systems according to best practices or industry standards\n
- Experience developing and managing data analytic reports with advanced proficiency in Excel and Structured Query Language (SQL)\n
- Experience analyzing operational processes and workflows, evaluating alternatives, and providing recommendations\n
- Experience providing customer service to diverse stakeholder levels, including executives, elected officials, and the public at large and communicating effectively across technical and non-technical groups\n
