Job description

A leading Japanese entertainment company is seeking a dynamic and qualified Japanese-Bilingual Licensing Associate. The Licensing Associate will drive company growth by building strategic partnerships, exploring new opportunities, and expanding content distribution into various industry channels. This role performs a range of administrative and licensing support duties related to daily marketing and licensing operations. The ideal candidate will identify and assess new distribution partners by staying informed on the latest industry trends, business models, and technologies, while aligning with the company’s overall sales strategies., * Collaborate with the international headquarters to create and prepare sales materials for solicitation to key accounts.

  • Assist in pitching programs to clients, negotiating deal terms, and drafting agreements.
  • Partner with the in-house legal team to finalize contracts and successfully close deals.
  • Coordinate with post-production vendors and internal teams to manage the delivery of all asset materials (e.g., Master files, Press kits, and Programming data).
  • Ensure timely receipt of payments and manage royalty reports in collaboration with the accounting department.
  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to acquire and guide new clients.
  • Maintain, develop, and foster strong business relationships across the Americas.
  • Oversee and maintain all approval processes by acting as a liaison between distributors, rights holders, and internal teams.
  • Represent the company at domestic and international industry trade markets and events.
  • Support various marketing activities, including event coordination and media exposure efforts.
  • Perform other special projects and administrative duties as requested.

Working Hours, Working style Monday - Friday; 9:00 - 18:00

  • Flexible start/end time by up to 1 hour with manager approval
  • Hybrid work environment (1-2 days in office weekly)
  • Occasional business travel (2-3 times per year)

Requirements

  • Bilingual proficiency (Fluent in English and Japanese). Spanish and Portuguese proficiency is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in content distribution, with a strong focus on IP Rights management, sales to key accounts, and VOD platforms.
  • Solid understanding of VOD and merchandise licensing, with an emphasis on windowing and holdbacks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect, collaborate, and build solid relationships with both internal and external partners.
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for Japanese entertainment content, animation, and comics is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Slack, and Adobe Photoshop.
