Job description
Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support CSF’s scholarship management, data reporting, and operational workflows. This full-time, remote includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, architect scalable systems, and implement secure back-end services and APIs. The engineer will write clean, maintainable code, perform code reviews, optimize performance, and ensure reliability and data integrity across applications. Day-to-day responsibilities also include troubleshooting production issues, integrating third-party systems, contributing to technical documentation, and mentoring other engineers. The role offers the opportunity to build technology that directly enhances CSF’s ability to serve students, families, and partner organizations.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software architecture.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming with modern languages (Python, JavaScript, html).
- Experience in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, databases (PostgreSQL), and security best practices.
- Advanced skills in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and designing reusable, modular components.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Background in designing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (e.g., Jenkins, docker, Ansible) is beneficial.
- Ability to analyze requirements, propose technical solutions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
