Systems Admin 2 - Tech Infrastructure

The System Administrator II position is responsible for the effective design, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual will share responsibilities for the support of all BCH IT systems. This position may include primary responsibility for administering the Epic server environment. 1. Configures servers and software applications adherent to recommend architecture to include environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
2. Assists and consults with users regarding network and system analysis, meetings with vendors regarding specifications, installation, testing and troubleshooting for networked computer systems.
3. Proactively monitor system performance for high levels of availability with the appropriate monitoring tools.
4. Assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of integrated third-party software and peripherals, including document management systems, voice recognition, scanning, and faxing.
5. Apply platform and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production components. This includes setting timelines, maintaining communication, and addressing related issues. Validate solutions are complete and appropriately implemented.
6. Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources are available across all systems.
7. Write and maintain scripts to improve system management tasks.
8. May manage print queues and Epic printing infrastructure.
9. Perform file system management.
10. Assists other members on Information Technology Staff on technical issues.
11. Trains users, including other system/administrators and technical support analysts as necessary.

14. Manage logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configurations in Epic.
15. Works with various hospital departments in defining system needs, including software applications, custom screens/menus, and reports to improve efficiency and productivity.
16. Continually reviews system operations to identify weaknesses, operational or workflow problems, and other areas that need improvement.
17. Assists in evaluating systems, communicating impact of known issues, preparing an analysis of alternatives, and implementing enhancements to existing system.

This role provides hands-on systems administration across Windows server platforms, virtualization environments, and associated services to ensure reliability, performance, security, and availability of critical business systems.# As part of this role, the Systems Administrator II will have assigned responsibility for Epic infrastructure components, including Epic Web and Service Server platforms. Education or Formal Training

1. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other technology related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)

1. Microsoft Certified System Administrator Windows Server (MCSA) preferred.
2. Citrix Certified Associate, Professional, or Expert preferred.
3. Epic Certification for a Technical Team role.
4. A valid driver’s license.
