What you’ll achieve As a Data Science Senior Advisor, you will be responsible for contributing to business strategy by defining and governing taxonomies and ontologies for our extensive knowledge content (articles, videos, manuals, etc.) The optimal taxonomical and ontological structure of our knowledge content will maximize findability and deliver on our critical business outcome: enabling customer self-service success. You will also design governance processes and execute them to align multiple stakeholders across the organization.

You will:

  • Work during US time zones to collaborate with internal and external teams to understand stakeholder requirements.
  • Develop and apply a broad range of techniques and theories from taxonomy, ontology, and business intelligence to deliver actionable business insights.
  • Consult with knowledge content owners and stakeholders to understand context.
  • Develop sustainable taxonomy and ontology governance to ensure a coherent, sustainable environment for our knowledge content.
  • Be part of a team that prioritizes work-life balance.
  • Leverage AI tools wherever it makes sense.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in taxonomy and ontology management and governance in a large organization
  • Experience researching, identifying, and documenting taxonomy and ontology requirements, as well as enforcing standards, agreements, and charters.
  • Familiar with relevant W3C standards (SKOS, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, etc.)
  • Working understanding of semantic ontologies.
  • Working understanding of AI and LLMs

Desirable Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Linguistics, Machine Learning, or Library Sciences (Master Librarian)
  • Experience working with Graph databases, taxonomies, and Natural Language Processing strategies (NLP) for optimization, knowledge of Taxonomy and Ontology Management Systems tools like GraphWise PoolParty, TopQuadrant Edge, Ontotext GraphDB, Knowledge Graphs experience
