Job description

  • Build, customise and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Translate design wireframes into responsive, cross-browser compatible websites.
  • Write clean, scalable code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS and TypeScript.
  • Optimise database queries using SQL for performance and reliability.
  • Support deployment processes and manage AWS and Linux server configurations.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues and implement fixes efficiently.
  • Stay informed on the latest web technologies, best practices and tools.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience developing with WordPress, including theme and plugin development.
  • Strong grasp of responsive web design principles and front-end frameworks.
  • Confident using Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs for editing and debugging.
  • Solid understanding of database interaction such as MySQL or SQL.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux-based environment.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end tooling including SCSS and TypeScript.
  • A proactive approach to solving problems and contributing ideas.
  • Understanding of technical SEO.
  • Ability to offer input on UI and UX design improvements.
  • Working knowledge of Python.

Benefits & conditions

We are a digital agency based in Basingstoke with an expanding development team. We offer a collaborative, design-led environment where your work will directly contribute to building high-performing, visually compelling websites and web applications. This is a hybrid role with around two days a week onsite, so you should be within a reasonable commuting distance to Basingstoke and ideally have access to a car. We offer a salary of £37,500 to £42,500 depending on experience, hybrid working, career progression within a fast-growing agency, a relaxed and inclusive culture, a company pension scheme, and free on-site parking.
