Job description
Implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet educational objectives and SLAs., * Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the district’s security team

Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution, Install, support, maintain and monitor new switch gear, server hardware and software while ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient use of district resources

Design, setup and configure complex switching environments

Supervise the administration of systems and servers related to the network to ensure availability of services to authorized users

Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices

Respond to Help Desk support tickets and resolve those in a timely manner Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Director of Technology

Effectively administer fiscal resources and maintain appropriate and accurate records of all financial activities

Utilize the instruction staff and support services (intra-district and inter-district) to maintain and improve the instructional program

Exhibit and encourage high professional and ethical standards Maintain confidentiality

Punctual and dependable attendance Must be able to work in a collaborative environment to achieve team and district goals
- Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available
- Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology
Equipment Used: Personal computer, printer, multi-function copier, smart phone
Working Conditions:
- Work with frequent interruptions
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent district wide travel
- Prolonged use of the computer, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, and lifting
- Able to effectively present information to individuals and groups
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
Requirements
Proven hands-on network engineering experience CCNP preferred
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
