Job description

We are seeking an experienced EHR Testing Lead to oversee testing strategy, planning, execution, and governance for a large-scale, multi-facility Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation.

This individual will serve as a key testing leader throughout the implementation lifecycle, establishing enterprise testing standards and coordinating testing activities across business, clinical, technical, and vendor teams. The ideal candidate has extensive healthcare IT testing experience and has successfully led multiple end-to-end EHR implementations through UAT, readiness, and go-live., * Lead and coordinate all phases of testing for a large-scale EHR implementation across multiple healthcare facilities.

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise EHR testing strategy, framework, governance model, standards, and procedures.
  • Oversee test planning, execution, defect management, and results reporting across EHR modules and integrations.
  • Establish a structured end-to-end testing lifecycle encompassing unit, integration, system, user acceptance, regression, performance, and related testing activities.
  • Develop repeatable testing standards, templates, processes, and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain requirements traceability between business, clinical, and technical requirements, test cases, and testing outcomes.
  • Manage standardized defect triage, prioritization, tracking, and resolution processes.
  • Coordinate test environments, test data, configurations, version control, and environment readiness with infrastructure and technical teams.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, clinical teams, technical teams, vendors, project management, configuration, and release teams.
  • Define roles and responsibilities across Test Leads, business testers, vendor testing teams, and other project stakeholders.
  • Establish and track key testing metrics including pass/fail rates, test coverage, defect leakage, and testing progress.
  • Develop and present Test Readiness Reports for project and executive leadership.
  • Conduct test readiness assessments and provide go/no-go recommendations for major releases and go-live events.
  • Identify testing risks, schedule issues, coverage gaps, and high-severity defects and drive appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Mentor internal staff and help establish sustainable testing capabilities for ongoing post-go-live operations.
  • Support transition from project-based testing into a repeatable enterprise testing program.

Requirements

This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical testing expertise, leadership skills, healthcare domain knowledge, and the ability to communicate testing status, risks, and readiness to both technical teams and executive leadership., * 8-10+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or related experience.

  • 3-5+ years leading testing efforts for EHR implementations or large-scale healthcare IT systems.
  • Experience leading at least two full end-to-end EHR implementations, including:

  • Test strategy and planning
  • Integration and system testing
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Regression testing
  • Defect management
  • Automation oversight
  • Go-live preparation and support
  • Demonstrated experience leading testing teams of 5-10+ resources.
  • Experience coordinating testing across multiple hospitals, facilities, or sites.
  • Strong understanding of requirements traceability and Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
  • Experience developing formal testing governance artifacts including test plans, test reports, testing metrics, and deliverable acceptance documentation.
  • Experience coordinating integration, regression, load, stress, and performance testing for large enterprise systems.
  • Strong knowledge of defect management, testing metrics, risk management, and test readiness reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clinicians, business leaders, IT architects, project managers, vendors, trainers, and executive leadership.
  • Experience working within regulated healthcare environments and understanding privacy, security, accreditation, and patient-safety considerations.

Healthcare Domain Experience

Strong healthcare IT experience is required. Experience with inpatient hospital environments is highly preferred, particularly involving workflows such as:

  • Patient registration
  • Pharmacy
  • Nursing
  • Psychiatric/behavioral health care
  • Billing
  • Laboratory systems and interfaces
  • Clinical workflows and integrations

Experience within behavioral health or forensic hospital environments is a strong plus.

Technical Skills Experience with test management, defect tracking, and automation technologies such as:

  • JIRA
  • HP ALM
  • TestRail
  • Selenium
  • UFT
  • Test management and reporting dashboards
  • Automated testing frameworks

Equivalent testing and automation platforms will also be considered. Preferred Certifications

One or more of the following is preferred:

  • ISTQB Advanced
  • CPHIMS
  • Agile Tester certification
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
  • PMP
  • Comparable testing, healthcare IT, Agile, or project management certifications

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior healthcare testing professional who has personally led complex, multi-site EHR implementations from initial test strategy through UAT and go-live. This person should be comfortable establishing testing governance from the ground up, leading large cross-functional testing efforts, working directly with clinical and technical stakeholders, and providing executive leadership with clear assessments of system readiness and risk.
