Job description

The Extra Help Program Coordinator (Digital Accessibility Services Assistant) supports the Digital Accessibility Services and Engineering (DASE) team’s programs and services by assisting with accessibility training, consultations, evaluations, outreach, and other digital accessibility initiatives.

The DASE team, within Technology Solutions, partners with the UIC community to advance digital accessibility by providing expert guidance, accessibility services, and innovative technologies that promote an inclusive digital experience for all users., * Support and help coordinate digital accessibility training programs and events, including scheduling, communications, documentation, and technical assistance.

  • Assist with promoting digital accessibility services and events through website updates, marketing materials, and campus communications.
  • Maintain and update digital accessibility resources, including internal and external webpages, documentation, and training materials.
  • Assist with accessibility evaluations of websites, documents, and other digital content using established tools and procedures.
  • Contribute to team operations by participating in meetings and team discussions, tracking service and training metrics, and assisting with administrative projects and tasks.
  • Perform other related duties in support of the Digital Accessibility Services and Engineering (DASE) team.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
  3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required. Additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization, * One or more years of professional experience in a higher education environment or an information technology-related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital accessibility principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital accessibility, web content creation, instructional design, user experience (UX), or related areas.
  • Strong analytical skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience promoting and marketing programs, services, or events through a variety of communication platforms and formats.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, content management systems, web editing tools, and other related technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
  • Basic analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
