Data Analyst II

Additionally, USG supports Freedom of Expression as stated in Board Policy 06.05 Freedom of Expression and Academic Freedom., This incumbent will serve as a statistical and visual technician in translating data from internal and external partners into actionable and practical organizational intelligence to promote data-informed decision making. This individual’s primary responsibilities will be building custom statistical and visual analytics for client-driven projects using Microsoft’s PowerBI and Qlik’s Qlik Cloud along with open-source computing and statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python, and Julia). Additional responsibilities include performing other procedural steps in the data science life cycle such as data ingestion, cleaning, management, and exploration using open-source and proprietary resources that are locally hosted or cloud-based. Secondary responsibilities include serving in a leading role for completing initiatives that are relevant to the Institute’s strategic missions such as delivering technical training, building and editing reports and visuals, and providing technical and statistical assistance on ad-hoc projects. This position will also assist in delivering technical training on business intelligence tools, AI, and data management and use.

This role involves a service-oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership of the projects, problems and requests assigned. This employee will be actively participating in a high energy, creative development environment serving state and local government partners. Successful candidates will demonstrate initiative in maintaining and updating core statistical, computational, and technical skills. Successful candidates should have a high degree of independence and self-direction when working on projects., Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading tasks using computer programming and traditional database management procedures on locally hosted and cloud-based infrastructures., Writes, tests, and deploys statistical and computational models to meet contract deliverables and projects aligned to the Institute’s strategic mission., Creates static and dynamic statistical and visual analytics for clients, externally and internally to UGA, using computer programming and business intelligence platforms., Assist in designing and providing training and workshops on statistical and visual analytics; develops and delivers presentations for stakeholders; creates reports and other digital or print-based media or graphics., Effectively manages time and resources to meet deadlines; solicits feedback for improvement of future services or projects. Continuously updates their knowledge of data management, modeling, and visualization. Participates as a mentor in student experiential opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience, * Knowledge of statistical analysis, data management, and data visualization principles.

• Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights and recommendations for clients.
• Experience developing and implementing statistical, computational, and reporting solutions to support project objectives.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively through reports, presentations, training, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to collaborate with clients, faculty, staff, and project teams to identify needs and deliver data-informed solutions.
• Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
